Question about English (US)
How about my pronunciation of "full"?
I think it's not bad but AI always recognizes it as "for", as shown in the picture.😅 Is it my problem or AI’s?

It kind of sounds like the way British people pronounce “for”. The ‘u’ sound in this word feels like it’s pronounced lower in the mouth to me if that makes sense 😅 You also have to make sure that you aren’t cutting off the ‘l’ sound at the end. But to be honest, I think this could be a combination of your pronunciation and the AI. I never realized how weird the word “full” sounds until now 😂

As a human, I understand 😆. But I would put more emphasis/focus more on "ULL" in "fULL" - make the a "ull" a little longer.

@bsloan7 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Appreciate it!!🤓
I think the pronunciation of full is kind of difficult.😆
Originally, I made dark L (my tongue tip didn't touch my upper alveolar ridge), as shown in the pic, because I feel comfortable this way, and AI thinks I was saying "for" rather than "full". Do you think my original version is not proper?😆😆😆
I listened to your recording. I found that it seemed your tongue tip touched your upper alveolar ridge, and then I tried to copy you, and the AI finally recognized the "full", not "for".😂
Dark L is hard to the Chinese because we dont have this sound..🥹

@VictoriaY Yes, the tip of my tongue does touch the alveolar ridge/the back of my teeth. Trying to do a dark L here is probably why your original pronunciation was a little off. In my opinion, saying this word with a dark L is causing you to do a lot more work than is necessary. You have to keep both the ‘u’ and the ‘l’ sounds very low in your mouth. To me, pronouncing this word with a regular L comes a lot more naturally.

Your pronunciation in your second recording was better! I definitely think doing a regular L sound helps. But again, I think the other slight issue is that the vowel sound you’re making sounds more like a mix between a ‘u’ and an ‘o’ instead of just a ‘u’. I tried to pronounce “full” the way that you do. And the only way I can do that is by pushing my lips out a bit when I start making the vowel sound. If that’s what you’re doing, then you don’t have to. Keeping your lips relaxed might help you pronounce the ‘u’ more accurately in this word.

Thanks a lot! 😘💕💕
My feeling is exactly opposite from yours.🤣🤣🤣
I feel comfortable doing dark L and keeping sounds low in my mouth, but I feel uncomfortable copying you. Curling my tongue tip up and touching the alveolar ridge needs me to put effort deliberately.
Yes. You are right.😆
I tend to push my lips out when pronouncing "u" in "full". How about this time?😂
