@Lucas_20 Alright, well maybe that’s just a term I’ve never heard personally. I’m not sure if other people are familiar with it, but if they are, then your sentence is fine. If not, then this is what I would say:
I prefer phones that have straight/flat screens rather than curved ones.

It’s grammatically correct, but I’m not sure what a direct screen phone is.

@bsloan7 Good to see you again. 😆 A direct screen phone is a phone that has a straight screen, like iPhone. iPhone always has straight screens. A curved screen like Samsung, they almost always have curved screens.

@Lucas_20 “Direct” doesn’t really make sense to me here, but like I was saying, maybe I’m just unfamiliar with it being used to describe a phone screen.
Now that I think of it though, I’ve never participated in a conversation where I needed to describe phone screens outside of the material they’re made from or them being sensitive or cracked/damaged in some way 🤔

@bsloan7 Alright. In China, we also don’t often talk about phone screens, but we sometimes do talk about it.
For example, I might say to my friends I like phones that have flat/straight screens so Samsung is not a good choice for me. Thank you for your help!

@Lucas_20 In the context of smartphones, display and screen are the same thing. Screen is just a generic term of display.

@julian_03 So “display” is more of a technical term, while “screen” is preferred by native speakers in daily conversation. Thank you!
