I have an American friend who's 23 years old. He said that some of his male friends of same age are married. Maybe age doesn't matter much when it comes to marriage. But I was surprised that they got married "very young" because it's common for Koreans (both men and women) to get married around 30 or after 30. From a Korean perspective, those who marry in their early-mid 20s are thought to be married way too young. I know it depends on the person but is it generally common for Americans to marry in early 20s?

Also, it's becoming more and more common for Koreans to not marry.

Here in Korea, like I said, many people marry around 30. It's really common for Koreans to marry after 30 and it's not rare to marry around 40 as well.
I think it's because many Koreans go to college and they commonly take a year or a couple of years off from school for various reasons like studying abroad and mandatory military service for about two years (for men). Hence, they're in their mid-late 20s by the time they work for a few years after graduation from college. Also, it's because many Koreans want to marry when they're ready for marriage.
