If you are friends, and someone leaves during a conversation, later you can say, “You left me hanging!”
I’m not sure about a boss to a subordinate. If the boss an subordinate are close (friendly) then I think you can use it, but it sounds like a joke rather than scolding the subordinate. So if the boss was actually upset that the subordinate left early, I don’t think I would use it. But if the boss is just joking, then you can use it. :)

This is a very common phrase. I’m not sure about being left by a lover, but I will say it if I hold up my hand for a hive-five and no one high-fives me 😅 You can most likely use it in other, more serious situations (like the other person said) but it sounds very casual to me, so I don’t think I would.

(I hold up my hand up and wait)
“Come on, don’t leave me hanging!”
Or
“You’re just gonna leave me hanging?”

Do you have an example where you heard it? Then I could explain what it means in that situation.

I see! it is sometimes used as a gag among friends, right?

Then, can I use this word to mean that something is stopped suddenly or interrupted in the middle? For example, when someone went to somewhere in spite of talking important things to their friends. Or like, boss in a company uses to scold their subordinate who got home leaving his work unfinished. Would you tell me some situations if it can be used something like that ?
