1. 废除：取消, 全部丢弃，主要用于法律、习惯、制度、传统。通常指完全废除制度、风俗、习惯等长期存在的事物。比如：废除宪法 (to ablolish the consititution)、废除奴隶制 (to abolish slavery) 等。
2. 撤销：取消，从法律上取消。通常是组织针对资质、资格的取消行为，即某自然人、法人持有的资质资格由于过期或者不再符合资质、资格要求，由资质发放管理方采取的一种取消行为。或者是指彻底消除某样事物，为不可恢复操作。比如：撤销资格证书 (to revoke the certification)、撤销合同 (rescind a contract) 等。
ps: 撤销 也有一词相近：“撤消”：针对组织机构、组织行为的取消，或者是将你之前做的某一或者某一些事情或者步骤消除。比如：撤消键入 (like the feature of Microsoft office: Undo)等。（“销”有“毁”(destroy)意，而“消”有“弃”(discard/abandon)意，据此可以按需选择。）
