@studiousboy No, I don’t think so. 2 really does sound about as natural as 1 to me. But maybe if the sentences were extended a bit, 1 would sound more natural to me. For example:
1. I genuinely don’t think it’s okay for him to be saying mean things like that to you.
2. I genuinely think it’s not okay for him to be saying mean things like that to you.
2 is still okay, but I like 1 better in this case for some reason.
