What does more people than ever will require help well into their eighties. mean?
Does it mean that when people get eighties they need more help than ever, or they'll need help up to their eighties( implying that 80s are average life expectancy)?

@Ally00 The word "well" isn't used in a positive way like "she's doing well". The term "well into their eighties" means in their late eighties like 86, 87 years old. The sentence basically means that many more people that are in their late eighties now will require assistance than people in that age range required in the past.

No, it means that nowadays more people will require help when they're in their 80s than in the past when most people in their 80s didn't require that much help.

@acemachine26 thank you for ur answer. but what bothers me is the words 'well into eighties'. If someone say that 'some people remain active well into their eighties', I totally understand what 'well into' here means. but people need help well into their eighties? they probably need help when they reach 70 already and will need help when they reach 90. please help me out here.

@acemachine26 ah, the author is talking about senior care, saying that with growing elderly population we gotta find out a way to provide senior care. And she mentioned about child care, too in the previous paragraphs. Then she moves into the discussion on senior care.

@acemachine26 Thank you very much for your elaborate explanation. I guess I was wondering why the author specifically pointed out 80s not 70s and 90s when talking about senior care. I really do appreciate your help. Hope you have a lovely day!

@Ally00 Maybe the 80s are the age when the elderly start requiring assistance due to health issues.
