They're generally the same,, but "seek" is used often in horror settings or for abstract nouns.
||Example in horror: The monster seeks the survivors, no one may know about this. ||
Examples for abstract nouns: She sought(past tense of seek) revenge.
He went on a quest, seeking wisdom from the goddess Athena.

“Search for” is more general and common.
“I searched for a good recipe on the internet.”
“The police searched for the missing woman.”

“Seek” is more formal, and it’s often a long, difficult, and/or meaningful search. It’s often used for abstract (non-tangible) things.
It’s used when you are looking for things you never had, not things that you lost.
“I seek the answers to life’s most difficult questions.”
“The prince is seeking a wife.”
“The villain sought revenge.”
