“Even if native speakers have different accents in different regions, we need to be able to listen to those accents in order to improve our listening skills and learn to speak our second language more naturally.
If you learn English in your country and never go abroad, you can’t get enough opportunities to listen to ''genuine accents''. Obviously, language apps allow you to speak with native speakers and practice or ask questions.”
Question for you:
What do you mean by “strong accents”? Someone can speak English with a strong foreign accent. That does not mean they don’t know the language or they’re not proficient. It means you can still hear the unique accent of their first language. Personally, I think accents are like birthmarks. They’re beautiful. Students just need to make an effort to enunciate clearly and communicate properly.
I think you mean, “genuine accents.”
I hope this helps. :)
