I read a sentence in SLAMMERKIN,which is written by Emma Donoghue.

“Sometimes Mary’s sense of grievance focused like a beam of light.”

I don’t know what is that mean.Why Donoghue use “light” to describe “sense of grievance”?

我在爱玛·多诺霍的书《荡妇》里面读到这个句子,不知道她为什么要这么表达,搞不懂
