It means "It would have been very funny if Spain was also eliminated from the World Cup, but Germany being eliminated is still acceptable."

Ahhh! I was unsure myself what they meant by "we take those" when I read it the first time. It clicked after I read your answer.
Now that I get it, it's like the unlikely coincidence of Germany (and only Germany) getting knocked out of the tournament is being handed by fate to the fans as a collective group, and the writer is saying "we sports watchers do accept items of that type".
It's a bit like if you go to a pawn shop, and the guy behind the counter says "That knife is rusty, so it's not the ideal piece for us to buy, and I won't give you that much for it... But yes, we take those."
