I would say “keeping it in” or “bottling up”, particularly for emotions. A person who never shares might be called “private” or “a private person”.
He has bottled up his anger for years.
I’m so happy I can barely keep it in!
She’s a private person; she never talks about her life.

@chardy thanks a lot! unfortunately its not in these contexts 😭 its for an object that someone keeps to themselves, like is there a stronger word than « keep »?
like « he’s keeping the cake for himself »
like « he’s keeping the cake for himself »
- English (US)
@alek_patoot You could maybe use "hoarding" to describe that? Usually hoarding implies that a large quantity of the thing is being kept, but not always. "He's hoarding the whole cake."

@ObstreperousB yes thank you! i searched synonyms of this verb and i also found monopolize and hog. Does it sound natural if i say « He will hog the cake for himself » ?
- English (US)
@alek_patoot "Monopolize" is a little formal for everyday speech, but "hog" works. I think you might want to add "whole" in there to make it clear that it's the entire cake, and "is going to" is usually a little more natural than "will" in casual conversation: "He's going to hog the whole cake for himself.
