Question about English (US)
Hey guys!
Do you think "as if they are" or "as if they were" sounds better in the following sentence?
The parenthetical remarks either feel like reading the girls' thoughts or as if they A) WERE / B) ARE directly whispering to the reader, sharing more personal information.
Thanks in advance :D

“As if” uses the subjunctive mood so it should be “as if they WERE.”
