(There is a lot of traffic) or you could say there (there is bad traffic)

Don't see anything wrong with "There is much traffic". It just means the same as "There is a lot of traffic".

It doesn't sound incorrect to me, but "There is a lot of traffic" sounds more American and is said more. But I can't give you a straight answer, as it sounds okay to me.
