What does I like how in Japan mean?

Does "how" in the following sentence have similar meaning to "the way"?

"Don’t forget your valuables” is a sign I often see in bathrooms. This usually refers to things like your wallet or phone, but I like how in Japan, almost every dropped item is seen as valuable."
