hou-ziz
House/singular is an S sound. They both become Z's when you use the plural.

@COASTBC Thanks. How about “spouses”? Do people use an ‘s’ or ‘z’ sound for the second S?

I say hou-siz. It can sound like hou-ziz if I'm speaking quickly.

@COASTBC So “house” is the only exception, right? When I use its plural form, the S sound becomes a Z sound.

@studiousboy As @FT43 mentioned, he says it differently than I do. So my pronunciation of houses is probably a difference in accent. You would be understood with either one. I suggest using whichever one you find easier or simply prefer. I wouldn't be surprised if others say spouses and blouses differently than I do.

@studiousboy I'm not sure if this is your kind of story, but the narrator in this audiobook is very good. I could listen to his natural speaking voice all day and not get bored of it. He imitates other accents quite well and his delivery of the humorous bits are perfect. You will also learn some rather creative ways to swear.
At the very least, it's good listening practice.
