In common usage, there is no difference. We commonly say “from that day on” simply because it flows off the tongue more easily. However, they both mean the same thing.
It should be noted, however, that it is technically poor grammar to say “from that day on” because you are not supposed to end a sentence with a preposition.
Forward, being an adverb, is fine as a sentence ending.
That being said, English speakers don’t often concern ourselves with proper grammar.

Não tem diferença, é igual. Assim como:
- We are moving on.
- We are moving foward.
Pra mim "on" apenas soa mais informal que "foward".
