Question about English (US)
Does this sound natural?
I think it's hard to get a feel for what I said as it is, so let's apply it to your native language here. Let’s say you’re reading the scientific essay and you know each word. Are you confident about your grasp of the content? Now you understand that you might still fail to understand sentences even if you know all the words in them. So, just memorizing vocabulary doesn’t ensure your comprehension skills.

Ensure your comprehension. Other than that, a bit wordy (but that’s a style issue) but perfectly fine.

Are you confident about your ability to fully grasp the content? Now you understand that you might still fail to understand some sentences even if you know all the words in them. So, memorizing vocabulary doesn’t quite ensure your comprehension.”
