Question about English (US)

Hi, I have a question of using “hi, there.”

Is it correct to use it in my introduction like “ Hi, there. I’m Nina. I live in Chiayi city. Drawing, reading, and traveling are my interests…..”

because one of my friends thinks that “hi, there” is better to be used in face-to-face greeting.
