Would it be more correct to say "it is translated as..." or "it translates as.."?

"translates as" sounds most natural to me.
Actually, I'm not sure if "translates as" is grammatically correct. But it is very common and sounds natural.

Both are fine. The first one sounds a little more natural to me. You can also say "it can be translated as..."
