@yi_mi_ can you provide the full paragraph with the "she sewed up tight like a turkey" in it.
Also, some grammar points. Usually when something has +ty it is a noun. So it should be the speaker is disabled (adjective) or the speaker has a disability. And children is a plural, so it should be when he was a child.
examples, responsibility; it was his responsibility (noun). responsible; He is responsible (adj).
My guess would be "she sewed up tight like a turkey" is related to her speaking ability. I can only imagine this saying as a reference to a turkey being sewn up tight for thanks giving as part of a recipe. And if you sew a mouth up, they wouldn't be able to talk, therefore this could be a metaphor for this persons ability to speak.

@yi_mi_ Oh I see. That is rather interesting, I still cannot determine what it means exactly even from this context. But my assumption based of the following sentence would be it refers to her professional dressing; "she was trussed in the clothes she wore, and seemed very buttoned-up" mainly because sewing is related to binding of clothes.
If it's not important, I wouldn't worry about it too much because it's not a saying that would be used ever and the meaning can be changed in different contexts.
May I ask if this paragraph is an official passage from a book or something?
EDIT: found a google definition of trussed.
(of a chicken or other bird) having had the wings and legs tied before cooking. or to secure tightly. So yea, the saying is related to her clothing with a reference to the bird thing.
