Question about Korean
“대학교 동기의 남자친구 친구였어요”
I know this roughly means: “In university, he was my friend’s boyfriend’s friend.”
And I understand each words meaning except:
”동기의“
And I am a little confused about the sentence structure so do you guys mind breaking each word down in the original sentence so I may get a better understanding of the sentence structure in Korean?
Thanks!!

That sentence means "He was my college friend's boyfriend."
you can understand to "동기" is some formal use of 친구 so it's like a friend

@PilotShawn 동기 means someone who came into your school or company or any organization the same year as you
It’s not necessarily your friend
동기->동기생=같은 시기에 같은 곳에서 교육이나 강습을 함께 받은 사람
선배<-동기->후배
