The word was usually means you finished do something like saying "I was in class" so when you say I was think you usually means you were thinking of something! But saying I have been thinking is when you thought about something for a while. Like "I have been thinking about what we should do tomorrow" or "I have been thinking about that movie from yesterday 😄
