The writer of that comment means that this franchise is being ruined by the fans. If it gets ruined to the point that it loses popularity and stops existing, it will be the fans' fault (whether it be for being so annoying in their fandom, or for having such ridiculous demands of the creators, etc.)
...Heck, it may already be wrecked past the point of repair. (That's what the "if they haven't already" part means. → [if the fans haven't already destroyed the franchise])
