Question about English (US)
I’m reading a book called Born to fight by mark hunt.
"Samoa is made up of a series of islands, which lie about 3000 northeast of New Zealand.
The place looks like you’d expect a pacific island to look - blue seas, green hills and yellow sand - populated by 200,000 or so locals."
Q1. you’d =you would?
Q2. I don’t understand "to look".
Is this a adjectival usage? Like, I went to the pacific island to look blue sea.

@rollerpigeon
Yes, you would.
Think of it this way –
It looks like how you would expect a place like that to look
Or
What does it look like? Exactly how I expected.
How do you expect it to look? Like this.
It’s just a rearrangement of the words, expressing the idea – the way that the thing looks.
