我从那句了解的是:”从我的后视镜,我只能看到在后座曾见的二位。”
但比较精确本句是:”从我的后视镜,我只能看见后座的二位,像我们来的时候一样。”
我只觉得前句比较流利

"从我的后视镜,我只能看见后座的两个人,还是我们来的时候的那两个"

@xujiang833 I would translate it as such:
“From my rearview mirror, I could only see two people in the backseat. They were the same two people I saw when we arrived.”
Or, if you would like to keep it as one sentence and keep the emphasis of 还是, I would use an em dash like so: “From the rearview mirror, I could only see two people in the backseat—the same two people I saw when we arrived.”

@xujiang833 你写的本句也行!Would just need to revise it to: “From my rearview mirror, I could only see two people in the backseat, just like what I had seen when we came.”
But it does not have the meaning that the two people are the same two people you saw when you came. It is more like 像我们来的时候一摸一样有两个人 instead of 还是我们来的时候的那两个

@xujiang833 多谢!Yes, I am ethnic Chinese. I’m from Singapore, where most of us are bilingual because we learn both English and our ethnic language in school. So I grew up learning and speaking Mandarin too :)
