Somebody asks me why I have been sad and I send the following: "No it's just little things, nothing serious. Like yesterday I was hurt that you said that i couldn't come to the gathering." ?

It’s just little things, nothing serious. Like yesterday I was hurt that you said that I couldn't come to the gathering.
You don’t need “no” here because “why?” can’t be answered with a yes or no. The word “I” is always capitalized.

@newenglandgenie thanks! As far as I know that phrase has another meaning which is showing appreciation to the small things in life, but I used it in a completely different context, referring to the small things that have been upsetting me.
So from what I understand I can use it in any kind of context, right?

There are lots of little things bothering me right now.
