the pizza was amazing -> the verb refers to only one noun, therefore it is singular
were = plural
the pizza and ice cream were amazing -> verb refers to both nouns, therefore it is plural

@_tulip_ if you want to talk abotu only the ice cream, it should be:
"*ice cream* was my favorite too"
the verb "was" (to be in past form) is connected to only 1 noun -> ice cream
now, if there's another noun together with ice cream, then it should be "were":
"*pizza* and *ice cream* were tasty"
also, note that:
I -----------------------> was
you (singular) --> were
she/he/it ----------> was
we --------------------> were
you (plural) ------> were
they -----------------> were
both the singular and plural "you" have "were" for their conjugation of the verb 'to be' in past simple
so, to know if you should use "were" or "was", you have to ask yourself "what is the verb talking about/connected to?", if it:
- is connected to the word "you"
- is connected to we/they
- is connected to 2 nouns
- is connected to a noun in the plural form
---> then the correct one is "were"
otherwise, you will always use "was", since it is the singular form of the verb 'to be' in past simple
