Question about English (US)
Hi language lovers,
2 simple questions
A. Suppose I live with someone and they do not bother me or ask me to do many things while I'm studying. Is it natural/correct if If say " thank you for letting me have time to study "?
B.
(a) He was happy at least as much as I was.
(b)He was at least as happy as I was.
(c) He was happy at least as I was.
(a) and (b) mean the same thing and both are natural and common. Right?
(c) conveys a different meaning. The speaker compares their "state" of happiness to the other person . In (a) and (b) the speaker compares the "quantity "of happiness; they both are equally happy. Right?

Wow, these are complex. Ok, for A, it’s fine, but “letting me” almost implies that you had an expectation that they wouldn’t allow you time. This would make sense if it that were the case - like, you could say it to your partner when it’s your anniversary, but you really needed to study.
Maybe just say, “I really appreciate you as a roommate. It’s very easy for me to get my studying done.”
I agree with B. Except on (c), I see that as needing a comma to be natural, but it might also change what you mean.
I think it would be “He was happy at least, as I was”. Meaning, at least he had happiness, as did I.

@telliston sorry for the late reply and thank you for the feedback.
I see your point. But in the sentence you presented in (c), shouldn't it be " he was happy, at least as I was" to match your intended meaning?
Thank you
