@lazyturtle0 yes, the same would apply in the same way to words where you pronounce the letter, and that letter sound would start with a vowel.

Was the word SAT, as in the SAT test?
If so, then yes. We pronounce that by saying the letters. So, it’s like saying “ess ey tee”. Which starts with a vowel sound, so we say “an SAT test”.

In writing, maybe. But, in speaking I think it would come naturally. You get used to using “an” before a vowel sound. If you had to write it, you might be more likely to make a mistake. But, saying “a SAT test” would just feel wrong.
There are other examples, like “an historic event.” I actually don’t understand that. Maybe someone else can explain it?
