Question about English (US)

What is the difference between to crumble and to crumble up ?Feel free to just provide example sentences.

They both mean "to break something into small pieces". The problem is that I can't find "to crumble up" in any serious dictionaries. One unknown website tells that "to crumble up" is American slang. Is it right? Is it slang?
Thank you 🍀
