Amiable is means friendly, pleasant.
“She’s actually a warm, amiable person, but her harsh features make her look cold and unapproachable.”
Amicable is used to describe friendly/peaceful relationships that could have turned out unfriendly. The most common example is divorce.
“They remained amicable after the divorce.”
My understanding is that amicable is the more common word. I can’t remember a time I’ve heard amiable used in real life.
