It’s a formal and very old-fashioned way of saying – I don’t know whether you have met my father before?
So it’s like saying – have you had the pleasure of meeting my father? Like, you are making the assumption that meeting this man is going to be a pleasurable activity.
Like I said – this is very very old-fashioned, like, centuries old tradition.
