Question about China
I am trying to choose a Chinese name (as an assignment in my Mandarin class). What are common female Chinese names that have to do with white or flowers? I do not want to pick one that seems odd, but want to maintain similar meaning to my English name.

What about 白若华?
白 is white. If your family name is White, I believe it's a good choice to choose 白as the family name of your Chinese name.
若华 is the flower of a tree in Chinese mythology. Also 若 means like, 华 means beautiful and glorious, therefore 若华 means the people is beautiful and glorious. And 华 also have a similar pronunciation as 花, which means flower.

Is your English name Emiliarxse? If so, you might want to use "米粒" as your Chinese name. The meaning of this word can be understood as "rice grains", which is related to white, and symbolizes a kind of full vitality and hope.It also sounds like “mili”.

@emiliarxse no… don’t use it. It’s sounds weird.
We never use foods as we formal name… just like u rarely heard somebody’s name is Apple Smith….
But it can be ur nickname l guess, if u can accept it
By the way, 米 is indeed a surname, and my calculus teacher’s name is ”米文”.
I’m not saying this name have some bad meanings, the rice is our main food, and we like it very much.
It just rare to take food as whole name.
Like the letter “A” is quite common in the given name, but u wouldn’t take “apple” as u given name.
And I would recommend u take “白若华” as ur name, as the the first reply mentioned. It’s sounds normal and have a good meaning.

@jorrinn "白若华" is a good name, but failed to notice that the questioner's other need was to be associated with her English name. Besides, "米粒" is not as bad as you make it sound, because the name still sounds cute. "米莉" is also a good name to try if the questioner feels uncomfortable. @emiliarxse

@jay996 emmmm, for me, I think instead 白若华 actually meet her/his need, which maintain similar meaning, white and flower, to her/his English name.

Both names are good, but if you’re looking for a normal name, I would say 白若华. 米粒 is more of a nickname
