I've always thought that being "in the volume" is about playing, and imagination, and there is no, kind of, fear, and no shame, you can do whatever you need to do to get to that truth...

He's speaking with an Australian accent, if that makes any difference.
I put commas around "kind of" because it is only being used as a hesitation phrase. We do this a lot with "kind of" when speaking.

His accent is a little hard to decipher, I think he said:
"I've always thought that being in the vine (?) is about playing, and imagination, and there is no kind of fear, no shame. You can do whatever you need to do to get to that truth."

"in the volume" isn't a real phrase, but either the cast/crew of this movie were using it with each other while filming, or this guy just made it up.

It is fairly clear that he means being "in the zone", as we more commonly say it, or maybe just being in that physical space/environment with all of the sensors and no actual outer-space set.
