Imagine I'm on a boat dock. I pick someone up and throw them into the water. I chucked them off the dock.
A dock has no walls, so we are not "in" anything. We are "on" the dock.
If we are in a house and I demand that someone leave. I booted them out.
Booted is a figurative usage. I didn't actually kick them with my boot, but I did aggressively demand that they leave.

@Lee_D237 There’s not much of a difference between the two. Both are British-English. When chucking someone off I imagine the act of lifting up and throwing. To boot someone out, it’s just to throw someone out or sternly request they leave. “Chuck” sounds more physical than “boot out”.
