"I have done" is present perfect tense, but it refers to a past event, so you use past tense "got".
"I've done too many pull-ups because I got excited and didn't want to quit."
"I did too many pull-ups because I got excited and didn't want to quit." (simple past tense)
If the first part of the sentence is present tense, use "get".
"When I get an answer correct, I get too excited."
The tenses have to match.
