He’s saying that whatever was “awesome” was not actually awesome.
For example, a good plan would would be well thought out and safe. A bad plan might be not be well thought out or safe.
“This is not a good plan. Unless you think that a poorly thought out and unsafe plan is a good idea, then it would be a good plan.”
