you can use “What year is it from?” or “What year is it?” both will work well.
you can say “what brand is it?” and “what’s the brand?” both will work.

I don't agree. You would not say, "What year is it from?" It's not a bottle of vintage wine. You'd ask "What year is it?" and then "What make is it?" You wouldn't say brand with a car. You ask about the make and model and the year.

No one would ever say brand when talking about a car or “what year is it from.”
Who makes it? Ford.
