In most situations, these mean about the same thing.
But there can be differences.
Similar:
She made it on time to the hospital.
She drove fast to the hospital so she could get there on time.
Both these refer to arriving at a place.
But, you can use “make it” to mean to complete something, like a project.
The project is due at 5pm. Do you think you will make it in time? (Meaning, meet the deadline)
