Question about English (US)
We headed for Corcovado National Park. That's where we met the godfather. He was our guide. The first thing he said was, "Never mind how much *wildlife you see here. What matters is how much of it sees you." We kept quiet.
Is the word "wildlife" always uncountable?

I don't imagine its plural so it always must be uncountable. 🤔
- English (US)
Yes, it's always uncountable because it's a mass noun. Mass nouns are inherently uncountable
(air, snow, intelligence, wildlife)

@janines But "air", "snow", "intelligence" are NOT always uncountable. They have their plurals. "Wildlife" is always uncountable.

@marian333 But I was talking about mass nouns. As a mass noun, they would always be uncountable. They are only countable when they are not being using as a mass noun. Those are just examples of mass nouns.

@janines Sure you're right. Maybe with just one exception but I may be wrong. What about "The Snows of Kilimanjaro"? 🤔
- English (US)
@marian333 Then that wouldn't be the mass noun form.
Snow = mass noun (uncountable)
Snows (n) = time periods of snow or snowstorm events (different noun and rarely used). I only see it occasionally in literature.
We would never say "there is not many snows today."
More often "snows" is used as a verb, such as "it snows."
