Question about English (US)
Please help me understand the following sentence correctly.
This car is always breaking down lately.
Does the above sentence mean
1) the car got out of order recently and has not been fixed,
or
2) the car often gets out of order recently, so it needs to be fixed many times
?
I am not really sure why "ing" is used here.
I thought "break down" is more like momentary verb, so it does not continues for long time.
Thank you in advance!

Thank you for your reply, but I don't understand your sentences clearly.
So does the sentence have two meanings?
I didn't get the meaning of the sentences you wrote.
Maybe you could give me more detail using other words?
Thank you very much!
