Question about Arabic
How do I negate verbs in arabic?
I think present and future go like this:
verb present tense + لن
verb present tense + لا
I know there are two ways to negate the past tense, لم and ما, one of them goes with the verb in the present tense and the other in the past tense isnt it?

- Arabic
yes.
you add
لن/ لم + present tense of the verb (الفعل المضارع)
لن goes with future tense.
e.g. لن أذاكر = I'm not going to study.
while لم goes with past tense
e.g. لم أذاكر = I haven't/ didn't study.
"لا" can be also used to negate. it indicates a state or a fact
e.g. لا أذاكر = I don't study
لا أشرب الخمر= I don't drink alcohol
لا تطير الثعالب= foxes don't fly
hope this helps!

Future negation:
لن + a present verb in the accusative case.
(e.g. لن أَذْهَبَ)
Present negation:
لا + a present verb in the nominative case.
(لا أَذْهَبُ)
Past negation:
لم + a present verb in the jussive case.
(لم أَذْهَبْ)
Or:
ما + a past verb.
(ما ذَهَبْتُ)
Note that ما as negation word is mainly used in Classical Arabic.
