Question about English (US)

I have a doubt, I’ve been told that we should use “put on” while talking about “dressing up / putting something on something else / getting fat “ but my question is, can I use it in other context basically in Spanish put is universal so to speak and I wanted to know if I could do the same in English, for example:

Put on this song
Put on Taylor Swift
Let’s put on a horror movie

I know how to say the same different but I want to know if it works with “put” or “put on” as well, thanks in advance
