Question about English (US)
I am pleased to announce the arrival of Mary Wu who will be joining us as of 1st April 2015, as Chief Executive Office. (I also would like know should I need to add "the" before CEO?) Thanks! Does this sound natural?

That sounds good! I think you should put "the" before CEO as it means Chief Executive Officer.

If you are saying that a person holds a specific title, you would use "the".
Example:
"She is teacher." - incorrect
"She is the teacher." - correct
Glad I can help! 😊

Sorry I just check online dictionary. I searched "appoint". Then one of the examples is 'He's just been appointed (as) director of the publishing division.'. I want to know why this example don't use "the" before director.
