It's very common to use "mademoiselle" for a young woman! It's quite used.

A good way to remember it is young women/girls call them mademoiselle or if you suspect they're not married and if they are married or they are an older lady call them Madame. My French teacher told me someone would more likely want to be called mademoiselle rather than Madame because you would be implying they look young. Hope this helped!
