They are interchangable. I'd prefer to use "[...] macht [...]" when referring to a process and "[...] hat [...]" when referring to a single item.

Das hat keinen Sinn
Literally means it has no meaning. You say it when something is futile.
"I can dig us out of here"
"Das hat keinen Sinn"
"There's no point"
While Das macht keinen Sinn is Literally: That makes no sense. As in, what you're saying makes no sense for example.
I guess they can also be interchangeable in some cases too.

Das hat keinen Sinn. = There's no point.
"Das macht keinen Sinn." is newer literal translation from English "It makes no sense." The classic German version of this expression is actually "Das ergibt keinen Sinn."

@Krokodilo That's true! A lot of Germans (even I do that) say "Das macht keinen Sinn" but actually it HAS to be "Das ergibt keinen Sinn" because my German teacher said you just can't 'make' sense (so sense can not be made)
"Das macht keinen Sinn" is, if we are very strict, simply wrong. But it's still a very common thing to say I try to not say it anymore since I learned that it is actually wrong
