What is the difference between very and so and pretty and quite and really ?Feel free to just provide example sentences.
What is the difference between very and so and pretty and quite and really ?Feel free to just provide example sentences.
I know some of them are interchangeable and not that different maybe. I want to know the difference of nuance and each preferable situation to use them.

Very: "you are very pretty."
So: "you are so pretty!" (As you can see, there's not much difference between these two, but for me, "very" seems more reserved. "So" could go with an exclamation point.)
Pretty: "you are pretty fun to be around." I think it kinda has a "sort of" feel. Or, you want to tell someone that they're fun to be around, but don't want to seem too over-the-top.
Quite: "You are quite fun to be around." Has the same feeling as "pretty" but I don't hear this used much anymore.
Really: "you are really fun to be around!" This seems less reserved than above, and with an exclamation point, can show that you REALLY have fun with this person.

“It’s very hot outside.” (More of a formal statement)
“It’s so hot outside!” (More of a casual statement)
“It’s pretty hot outside.”(Use this when you are telling someone who is planning to go outside)
“It’s quite hot out.” (We almost never use sentences like these so really you could get away with not using this ever)
