Hello everyone! I'll go to Helsinki soon and I'll be alone there. What's the probability to people talk with me if I'm Mexican? I heard that Finnish people is quite, so... what do you think? Kiitos kaikille!!

finnish pepole like to keep to themselves so they probably won't... but if you ask them a question they'll usually be more than happy to help

If you start the conversation, I doubt anybody would decline talking to you because you are foreigner. Finnish people tend to be more quiet to everybody.

we tend not to talk to strangers but if you start a conversation it's all good. a lot of people love talking to foreigners and are curious about what they think about our country.

@alexiwanderlust I wouldn't say hate, but personal space is something finns appriciate. For example we don't give cheek kisses when meeting someone. And akward feeling silence during conversations is pretty normal, since finns don't use smalltalk to fill gaps.

@lilty92 yes! maybe "hate" was a hard word. In fact, I listened about that in my classes, my teacher (she's from Finland) said to me something about personal space, it's really important there! it's really different compared with Mexico and Mexicans are. Well, I hope don't bother to anybody :P paljon kiitoksia!
