Question about Finland
these are images of high school students in Japanese anime. the school is described as something Finnish in the anime. (at least something Finnish Japanese think.) I want to know what native Finnish people feel and think of these. Do you feel anything Finnish?

Well I dont really see it that clearly, but some things feel finnish. Like those characters have finnish sounding names and one of them plays the kantele instrument. I didn’t see any school from the pictures just the characters and tanks so Its kinda difficult to answer.
(I also really need to watch that anime soon)
Its nice when anime references Finland. :)

Is this from the anime where the girls drive tanks?
The link is a bit broken, but the colors of the girls look very Finnish 😀. However, Finnish schools don't really have school uniforms, so that looks a bit unusual.
Edit: I know it makes Finnish anime fans happy when our country is mentioned though, even if it's not completely accurate 😊

In the first picture the girl is saying ミッコだよー, which is a bit strange since Mikko is exclusively a man's name in Finland. I guess they thought otherwise because of the ko-ending.

Since @Necroblas pointed out the name, I noticed that the girls seem to have boys' names. Aki, Mika, and Mikko are all exclusively boys' names. In finland, it's not legal to give boys' names to girls and vice versa.

@ered Oh. That makes it look more like some kind of deliberate joke, since Mika and Aki are both more or less common female Japanese names.

@Necroblas @ered thank you for your reply. It is very interesting that girl's name and boy's name are changed between Japan and Finland.

What I have noticed Finnish characters in anime are normally more gimmick for action heavy shows with some winter war or athlete reference without any other connection to Finns than Nordic looks.
Many of Finnish variants to common biblical names tend to have endings that sound feminine to Japanese. Also some surnames may sound funny to Japanese. Example our former prime minister Esko Aho
